405 !!
Bob Kurtz is Golf's Iron Man.
On June 4, 2008, he made golf history by playing 405 consecutive
holes in a highly publicized golf marathon. Playing at Chesley Oaks Golf
Course in Fairview, Alabama before enthusiastic golf supporters, he
began play at 5:07 a.m. on Wednesday, played all day and throughout the
night ("glow ball") and continued into Thursday June 5, concluding at
11:40 a.m. that day.*
Combining the ball-striking strength of Vijay Singh, the fitness of Gary
Player, and the intensity of Corey Pavin, he has utilized his golfing
ability in a
remarkable way.
He is golf's iron man.
Marathons with a mission to benefit children is his calling.
Imagine playing over 400 holes of golf in
a row? Bob has also played 168 consecutive golf holes in one day and
followed that remarkable feat by completing 220 holes in a day the following year. All to benefit charities
for children.
The former sportscaster with CNN and ESPN is
a highly competitive golfer having qualified for the Champions Tour and
other significant events. In 2007 he competed in the final qualifying
for the Senior British Open in Muirfield, Scotland. In 2008 hge
picked up a fourth-place check in his only competition on the Sunbelt
Senior Professional Golf Tour. Also, he
is a former section winner of the National Long Driving Contest and is a
member of the Long Drivers of America.
However, he mostly uses his golfing ability
to raise funds for forgotten children (Ministry to Children) and other
worthy causes.
